Student Peace Action Network is a grassroots peace and justice organization working from campuses across the US.. We organize for an end to physical, social, and economic violence caused by militarism at home and abroad. We campaign for nuclear abolition. We support a foreign policy based on human rights and international cooperation, and a domestic agenda that supports human and environmental concerns, not Pentagon excess. War is not inevitable. We push for practical alternatives..

Ongoing Events:

Honk for Peace every friday at 5pm at the Bell Tower

Critical Mass last friday of every month, Next Ride April 29, at 4:30pm at Bell Tower. Bike Flier.

Tuesday, September 28, 2004

at the last meeting we worked on finalizing our two actions for this upcoming week:

1. Wednesday, 29 Sept. - ROTC sit-in 3:30-6:30pm in brickyard

2. Thursday, 30 Sept.(international refugee day) - Palestine MockApartheid Wall, all day Brickyard.

Please come help us with these events.

1. We cannot sit idle while the War Machine recruits openly on our campus, in public. For the sit-in, so far we have Gareth, Brad, Megan, Hudson, Aimee and myself who are actually going to sit-in and block the ROTC from doingthere cadet formation. If anyone else can come and participate in theactual direct action at 330, let me know. So far a few people agreed butwe still need more people to come and heckle, create a light-hearted humorous atmosphere and hold signs denouncing militarism on our campus. They have an auditorium, it is completely uncalled for, that they use the open space for their formations. this is a recruitment technique and weare going to shut them down.

2. We just picked up some excellent materials for International RefugeeDay, including four maps and two picture books. We learned that as of2003, there are 4,055,758 refugees from Palestine alone. Does anyone orcan anyone find information about refugees from elsewhere? We are constructing a wall made of refrigerator boxes in the brickyard at 9am onThursday. We need you to help set-up. We are going to show the film"Peace, Propoganda and the Promise Land" on the wall at dusk(around 7pm)and we want you all to bring your friends. I am attaching a flier for the event, so please put it up around campus.
